Product Information

The AGM Varmint LRF is a compact thermal imaging scope developed for 24-hour operation under any weather and environmental conditions. Available in multiple configurations: 384x288(50 Hz) thermal detector or 640x512 (50 Hz) thermal detector, and 35mm or 50mm objective lens. These options allow the customer to choose the perfect unit for their needs. The 35mm lens is designed for medium-range applications, while the 50mm lens will be better suited for long-range engagements.

Equipped with a highly sensitive, 12μm thermal detector and 1024×768 OLED monitor, the AGM Varmint LRF provides a clear image under harsh environment conditions including darkness, fog, smoke, dust, rain, snow, brush, camouflage, etc. The device can be used as a thermal riflescope or handheld monocular, and can be applied to scenarios such as patrolling, hunting, static observation, and more.

The built-in laser range finder of the AGM Varmint LRF is designed to determine the exact distance between the observer and the target. Measurement results are displayed on the scopes monitor. One 18650 rechargeable battery gives the device up to 4.5 hours of continuous operation time. An external 5V power bank (battery pack) can be easily connected via a USB to USB-C connector for a significant increase of operating time. The device is equipped with fast EMMC storage for on-board video recording and image capturing. An internal Wi-Fi module for live video streaming and video/image recording via application are also included.

See things like never before.

I wasn’t planning to spend this much money as it’s difficult to justify if you’re not in an area w lots of pig hunting. I mainly want to see what’s on my property when I let the dogs out at night, find missing or naughty hiding cats at night, etc. We live in eastern Washington and there are many cougars and song dogs around here that we share the land with. I could always see eyes in the distance w a spotlight but wasnt always sure it was just the deer. Now I am sure! The scope is awesome. It’s easy to use, the wifi connection is super awesome! Link to your phone via the wifi coming outa the scope and you don’t even have to look at the scope to see or adjust it(use the T-Vision app, NOT the AGM app. It caused some issues of the unit just shutting off repeatedly). It’s also great for showing your friends. I feel that for a “mid grade” price point, the resolution and clarity is amazing, though I have nothing to judge it against as it’s my first thermal product. The guys at Outdoor Legacy are great to talk to about the best unit for your needs. Call them, trust me. The LRF works quite well, though it’s a pretty large beam at several hundred yards. I do have a lot of experience w LRFs and things like rain and humidity usually make them goofy or not work at all. This one reads off tree foliage, deer and grass at 3-400 yards w similar accuracy as my Leica 2000B. I haven’t ranged out farther than that yet but I’m sure it will work well out to 600. The only thing that I am a little unhappy with, is (my budget) the field of view w the 4.5 base mag. I knew what I was getting but figured I’d be using it to just ID animals out past the spotlight ID range. It’s amazing for that and it is truly a great long range (3-4, even 500 yard) scope. I can ID (because I know the animals and their habits around here) deer feeding and bedded at over 1000 yards. I know this because I have steel targets over on that side of the canyon… I was amazed to see mice and voles running around at 150ish yards. Now I am gonna pick up a hand held w 1 or 1.5 base mag for quick scanning for anything interesting! It’s definitely the coolest toy I think I’ve ever got from Santa. Batteries are easy to charge and change, the charger that comes w it is nice. The mount is sweet. The little carry case is nice. I sorta wish I’d have gotten the 3x-640 but for the extra $1500 I think having a low mag hand held is a better choice, besides then I’ll have two thermal units!
